Open Enrollment for Voluntary Supplemental / Life Ins. Benefits
.
Now – November 30, 2026
.
Effective January 1, 2027
.
Open Enrollment is now underway for UnitedHealthcare's Voluntary Supplemental Benefits, including:
- Accident Insurance
- Hospital Indemnity Insurance
- Critical Illness Insurance
- Voluntary Life Insurance (Active Employee's only)
.
These plans provide cash benefits for covered services listed in the Supplemental Benefits Guide and continue to include the annual wellness benefit many members have received for completing their physicals.
.
Did you know that your Voluntary Supplemental Benefits can actually pay you back each year when you complete your annual physical?
These programs, Accident, Hospital Indemnity, and Critical Illness, each include a $75 wellness benefit paid directly to you when you complete your annual preventive visit.
.
Here’s how the math works:
- Example 1: Single 25-year-old employee
- Voluntary Accident: $6.82/month
- Hospital Indemnity: $9.38/month
- Critical Illness: $1.30/month
- Total monthly cost: $17.50 × 12 months = $210.00
- Annual wellness benefits: $75 × 3 = $225.00
- Final result: You made $15 for the year!
- Example 2: Employee + Spouse enrolled in Accident and Hospital Indemnity only
- Total annual cost: $377.76
- Annual wellness benefits: $75 each × 2 plans × 2 people = $300.00
- Final result: Your cost $77.76 for 12 months of coverage
.
For new coverage, you must enroll by November 30, 2026.
The enrollment form and supplemental guide are available below.
In December 2026, you will receive a welcome letter outlining your coverage details, monthly premium, and first payment due date.
You will also receive instructions to access the billing portal, where you can view invoices and choose your preferred payment method.
Monthly invoices will be mailed separately.
.
Payment options include ACH and recurring credit card payments, which are processed on the 5th business day of each month (please allow a few days for the transaction to appear on your bank statement). This consistent schedule helps ensure your payments are made on time and easy to track.
